Frank Bungay

Frank Bungay Forward (34-36) Signed from Southend. Previously with Mexborough Athletic and Huddersfield Town. On leaving school he joined his village team Ecclesfield Red Rose. In one match he scored fifteen goals. This feat soon got him noticed and it wasn't long before he had a trial with FA Cup semi-finalists Bolton Wanderers. He eventually signed with Huddersfield Town and turned out 18 times for them in the First Division, scoring five goals. He then moved to Southend. Despite being out injured for six weeks, he scored 61 goals in his first season with Boston, which is still a club record. This included goals in all nine FA Cup games that Boston played in 34/5, which is probably an FA Cup record. He was also a useful darts and snooker player. Left to join Grantham. Born 1909 in Ecclesfield near Sheffield.
