Reserves 8-1 Alstom Sports

Lincolnshire League

Report by Colin Woodcock

Wednesday saw the visit of Alstom Sports to York Street. Traditionally they are a good footballing side and are regarded as one of the better teams in the league, but a strong United side made them look very ordinary. To be fair United's line-up included ten players with Dr. Martens League experience, and 2-0 at half time wasn't a reflection of their superiority.

Mark MELSON opened the scoring after five minutes and Paul WATTS, returning from injury, hit a second. In the second half, the floodgates opened. The impressive Kevin SLINN bagging a hat-trick inside fifteen minutes and his replacement Leigh TAYLOR adding two more before MELSON rounded off the scoring.

United team: 1. Nick Maddison, 2. Neil Timby, 3. Martin Hardy, 4. Gary Pawson, 5. Ricky Southwell, 6. Jim Dobbin, 7. Mark Melson, 8. Steve Appleby, 9. Gary Walters, 10. Paul Watts, 11. Kevin Slinn, 12. Andy Markham, 14. Danny Dack, 15. Leigh Taylor.
