The argument is lost as soon as you mention the Welsh Cup as an achievement... and you didn't even win it!!

Indeed. Some cracking material on there.... just reminds us why we're the 2nd biggest club at this level and what we should be aspiring to get too in the next few years

On what basis are we the second biggest club?

History? Stockport the only ones bigger.
so ex-league clubs kiddy, darlo, bpa, Halifax, and not forgetting gainsboro couldn't claim the same?

Kiddy are similar-size to us - Darlo, BPA and Halifax are new clubs and Gainsborough? Seriously?

What are you using to determine size?
(Crowds, balance sheet, average league position, trophies?)

Some teams in this division are 'upwardly mobile' - Darlington, Fylde, Salford, Harrogate, Chorley FCUM
Others are trying to stabilise, Stockport, Alty, Telford, Kiddy, Nuneaton Tamworth
The rest are just hoping to maintain their place in this league

History suggests that BUFC are either in group two or three
You are basing that on current status, not history. Fylde, Salford, Harrogate are all 'upwardly mobile' due to £££££££.

History suggests we have been one of the most successful non league clubs in the country.
darlo and Halifax may hAve been reborn, but history says they have both been much bigger clubs for a longer period. History is fact, not conjecture of what might have been.

Not the same clubs (fact!) - they should not be claiming their predecessor's history. They are only a few years old, each (fact!).

History .
Don,t think we should pursue  that one .

Stadia.
With the newcomers Fylde, Halifax, Kiddy, plus Manchester, Stockport we
should creep into the top six stadium wise  this season.

Attendances.
Again with the newcomers it will be difficult to make the top five this
                    season .

Finance .

Safe to say that Darlo, Fylde, Halifax, Salford, Harrogate, Stockport and
Manchester have a bigger budget than us .

Conclusions.

Lets concentrate on the positives ,   We,ve got owners who will not be lead
                    into unsustainable spending .
We have a manager who  has produced  Con N Golden Boot
contenders for three successive seasons .
Produced Con N Player of the year for two out of the last three seasons
Produced two players each season for Con N team of the year .
                    Two players received England C call-ups .

Down side to above ,  other teams liked what they saw and took our
                    players .

Add to above Craig Singleton and his and the clubs list of awards at the
Con N annual end of season bash .

Lets all go back and read the Leftbackinthedressingroom post earlier in the thread and to repeat a fairly recent poster "lets smell the coffee"

I wouldn't say FCUM's ground is better than ours... similar terrace behind 1 goal, their main stand is a mish-mash and there's nothing else. Maybe if they finish it off.

Ah, the old "big" club debate reappears.

What is interesting to note is the disparity between North and South leagues, we have at least 8 teams who in one form or another (current or former life) have graced the Football League whereas the South only have one (Maidstone) that I can pick out.  Is it just a bit grimmer up north?

Maidstone let their club die, so it doesn't count
Only Dartford and £bb$fleet are capable of 1,000 crowds in Conf South, you could argue about BAth, Wealdstone but the rest are pony
