Martyn Bunce named as Boston United’s new reserve team manager
Published on Monday 11 June 2012 13:30

MARTYN Bunce has been named as Boston United’s new reserve team manager.

He has made the step up after being Glen Maddison’s assistant for the past two seasons.

“To manage the reserves at a big club like Boston is great really,” Bunce told The Standard.

Micky Nuttell, Nigel Vince and Aidie Daubney will assist him in coaching capacities.

Bunce was part of the second string set up which won the Lincolnshire League two seasons ago.

The former Pilgrims goalkeeper has also played in the division with Wyberton, Skegness Town and Horncastle Town over the years.

Bunce is also the United Centre of Excellence goalkeeping coach.

Maddison has joined UCL premier side Sleaford Town.

For a full interview with Bunce, see the Boston Standard, out Wednesday

Please feel free to disagree with me, but very few goalkeepers across football as a whole have ever gone on to become successful managers. Does anyone have any theories as to why?

But good luck to Martyn Bunce in proving the exception rather than the rule!

Beyond any arguments about the specialist nature of the position, there's a far greater pool of outfield players (obviously, at least ten times as many).

All the best to Martyn, hope all goes well for the lad and we keep performing and bring the youths through the system. Also I would like to wish Glen all the best at Sleaford Town next season.
