Everyone knows that if you turn up late then your preparation is in disarray. For Chorley's sake lets hope the bus driver leaves a bit more contingency for the rearranged fixture.

As I've already said the bus left later than planned as the team were waiting for the result of the local referee's inspection and the green light from Boston before setting off.

I would guess turning up late would have made the desire to postpone that bit greater on Chorley's part.

Now that really is living in fantasy land.  Think they would rather have played on a pitch which was safe than the prospect of travelling back for a Tuesday night game.

I remember a few seasons back i think it was, against Gainsborough at home when the goalmouths was the subject of the inspection outcome. Both were in a far worse state than what i have seen from the weekends clips of the playing surface.  It was pretty much a bog of mud in some places, yet we got the game on with some hard work on the pitch, by both sets of players and ground staff if i remember correctly.

So its quite obvious that Chorley came with the mindset of 'it's cold, we are a weakened team, let's find a way of getting it off'.

Why obvious? As I've said before we were no 'weaker' than we have been over the last couple of games.  So why go to the time and expense of crossing the country along with 100 or so supporters if we had no intention of playing.
Trouble is this theory has been mentioned a few times and has almost become fact.

Can't believe Chorley were arriving so late at the ground. Even in the UCL in my playing days we were always on site 90 minutes before kick off.

See the re-arranged fixture is now 14th Feb. Let's hope there's no excuses next time.

TEP

I came on the Supporters' Coach which set off at 10.30 - from what I understand the Team Coach were waiting for the outcome of the initial referee's pitch inspection at 10am before setting off.  We got a message at 10.20 that they got the goahead and set off for Boston.  It's a 3.5 hour journey and we got caught up on the A1 behind a wide load, and assume the Team coach did as well - this would explain them arriving just before 2pm.
And I hope the rearranged match goes ahead and the ref is strong enough in his own convictions to make a decision for himself if there are potential issues

Nice of you Mr Jansen to come and register on our message board ;)

Thanks for the guess, but I'm not Mr Jansen.  I'm a Chorley fan who sees Boston as a second team in the league - my grandparents lived in Boston and my Dad used to watch the Pilgrims as a young lad.  I also come to Boston games where possible - went to Fylde last season and Stalybridge a few weeks ago.

I have been fighting our corner on their Facebook page, apparently they have done this twice before, and both times they would have had to field weaker teams, funny that!!
They were even suggesting that Boston should compensate Chorley fans.
They even think that we have no chance of reporting them to the FA or league.
This is all a blatant cheating tactic that they have done before.m
But one thing is for sure, their manager has no respect for Chorley fans or anyone else.
A complete and totally self conceited dick.

Just thought I'd come back to you on this - I have seen your messages on the Chorley Facebook page, and it is understandable that you have been influenced by the posts by a Stafford fan.

However I wanted to explain that the club has not done this twice before.  The first match in question was an FA Trophy game where the pitch at Chorley was iced up and we wanted to give as much chance as possible for it to thaw.  Bearing in mind that Stafford is only an hour or so from Chorley, we called for a local ref to come to the ground around lunchtime and he called the game off.  The Stafford fans and players turned up at a similar time to the referee; some 2.5 hours before kick off.
Knowing the weather conditions, had they planned to set off at a later time, they could have been informed that the game was called off and avoided the travel.

I don't know where the Stafford fan thinks the second example comes from - the rearranged game was set for the following Tuesday evening, and the game was called off mid afternoon as there had been no increase in temperature and the pitch was still icy in the shadow of the main stand.  Stafford was informed and so avoided setting off.

It is ridiculous to suggest that Chorley would call off matches to avoid fielding weaker teams - both by the Stafford fan and by a number of Boston fans.  We have a long term injury to Jason Walker and Sefton Gonzales has left the club.  But we have a fully fit Marcus Carver and also the back up of a member of our Development Squad.  This has been the same for the previous two matches where we beat a good Brackley side at their ground and were narrowly defeated by a rejuvenated Halifax Town away in midweek.  Its not ideal, but one thing the club would not resort to is the 'blatant cheating tactic' which you suggest we have done before

The players were heard saying they did not want to play, ground unfit and not just by one person, quite a few heard it hence the posts about them saying no after Boston AND the TWO referees said it was playable.

Your Club Secretary confirmed in a tweet yesterday that 'We had a local referee pass it at 10.00am.  The match referee arrived at 1.15pm and had issues with one or two patches'
That suggests to be that the match ref had concerns 45 minutes before the Chorley team arrived.
If he had concerns, he should have made a decision there and then.
It is the ref who calls off the game, not either of the managers.

Apparently the pitch was ok with trainers, but once players put their boots on, concerns were raised about the safety of parts of the playing surface.

The B-Ark / Chorley game

Evening all

Looking forward to welcoming you all to Victory Park on Saturday.

I guess that the vast majority of you will have been to Chorley before now, but thought I'd come on here with a few pieces of information which will hopefully help on the day.

The turnstiles will be open from 1pm.

I know that the vast majority will be coming by coach.  For those coming by car there is limited parking available at the ground. If you are a blue badge holder, I would strongly recommend that you contact the club as soon as possible at info@chorleyfc.com and we will do our best to accommodate you. There is some street parking around the ground, but again this is limited. However all public car parks in the town are free of charge from 1pm.

For any coming by train, there is rail engineering works at Chorley station and there are no trains running on Saturdays. You can travel as far as Bolton where there are rail replacement coaches. An alternative is to catch a train from Manchester Piccadilly to Wigan North Western at 16 minutes past the hour and change there for a connection to Euxton Balshaw Lane (total journey time 1 hour). Chorley is approximately 2 miles from Euxton - there are buses which run from outside the station towards Chorley or there are plenty of taxi firms in the town which can run you from there to the ground.

Finally our entry prices are:
Adults £10.00
Concessions (>60s) £7.00
Age 12-16 £5.00
Accompanied age 11 and under are free of charge

Disabled fans pay the appropriate charge for their age group and a carer is admitted free of charge.

Hopefully that just about covers it, however if you have any other questions, please let me know.
