The B-Ark / Re: Man Utd - green/yellow

If and when the Glaziers do leave Manchester United, what effect would that have on levels of support at FC United? Would there be a mass exodus back to Old Trafford?

Here's the pics from tonight.

Proof, if any were needed, that Retford did lose their heads.

Also in advance i would like to warn you about the lack of coverage at our ground and it does tend to have its own climate so wrap up extra warm.....

It can't be any colder than Buxton, can it?

Well done to Witton Albion on this great gesture towards Chester fans...

... I wonder where they got the idea from?

The B-Ark / Re: Fans forum

I can't attend the forum myself due to distance and another commitment. But my questions would be:

(1) - "With players such as Shaun Pearson and Anthony Church likely to become saleable assets in the future, at what stage is the club at currently in respect of contract negotiations for next season?"

(2) - "We're involved in the promotion race and don't yet know which league we'll be playing in next season. How much does this affect decisions around budgets, and does it cause any disadvantages in terms of planning for next season's squad?"

And

(3) - "With the play-offs a possibility and a relatively young squad, is there a temptation for either of the two managers to "play" again - utilising their experience as players in getting Ilkeston up via the play-offs last season?"

The B-Ark / Re: Best set of forwards since?
« on: March 01, 2010, 06:33:18 AM »

At the start of the season during which we were ultimately relegated from the League we added Anthony Elding to a squad that already included Julian Joachim. Personally I thought that had the potential to be one of the best strike pairings we'd ever had - and two Boston-born players to boot. But Elding was suspended when he joined us and by the time he'd returned Jim Rodwell had seen the colour of Darlington's money and had sold Joachim. So we never got to find out how good this strike partnership would have been.

It wasn't too long before Elding was sold as well - to Stockport County.

With Francis Green in the squad as well, we wouldn't have gone down that season if that squad had been kept together.

I know finances were a big issue and we might have gone bankrupt off the pitch if keeping that squad, this discussion is abuot "best forwards" and not "best value forwards".

The B-Ark / Re: Bridge v Terry
« on: February 26, 2010, 06:39:46 AM »

Personally I think it is Terryble that Bridge isn't prepared to build bridges.

With the Cole and Bridge situation as it is, people keep mentioning untried and untested (at international level) left-backs to come in and fill that void. I'm not sure if that's the answer.

I can remember a previous World Cup (post Alan Shearer's international retirement) when there was  a media campaign to reverse his decision and play for his country again. Jamie Carragher retired from international football a few years ago, but surely he would be the best English candidate to fill that position - if he could be persuaded to do so?

And I think there's some of these in there as well.....

The B-Ark / Re: Club President
« on: February 22, 2010, 06:40:07 AM »

We already have a number of Vice Presidents who pay for the use of the VP lounge on match-days. Logically speaking, wouldn't any new president need to be elected from amongst the existing Vice Presidents?

Four red cards during stoppage time at North Ferriby vs Hucknall - two for each side!

Isn't that just typical?

I've missed the last five matches due to illness.

I'd passed myself fit to go to this afternoon's match and was absolutely chomping at the bit to go after missing nineteen United goals. And then this happens! At this rate I'll need someone to remind me what colours we play in.

Just seen an UFO over Wickes down West Street!

Is Adam Boyd practicing his penalties again?

The B-Ark / Re: Jim Rodwell in Notts County takeover?

Perhaps Rodwell will fit in well at Notts County. After all, magpies are known  to be  opportunist scavengers.
