Grimsby Town 3-2 PilgrimsAvon Insurance Leagueby Craig SingletonBoston United included trialists Stuart Douglas and Clint Marcelle in their reserve line-up that kicked off the new campaign away to Grimsby Town last Wednesday. The Pilgrims lost 3-2 after surging into an early two-goal lead through efforts by Peter Costello and Marcelle. Grimsby pulled one back before the interval and then went on to net twice more. |
Their marksmen were Phil Jevons, Darren Mansaram and Chris Bolder. Reflecting on the match, Neil Thompson said: "It was certainly a hard match, but it meant we got 90 minutes of action into some players who needed the match. As a workout, it was excellent. And I am sure as the season progresses, we will see the benefits of having a reserve team playing at such a good level." United team: 1. Conroy, 2. R Weatherstone, 3. Lodge, 4. Elding, 5.
