Scarborough 1-3 Pilgrims

Avon Insurance League

by Craig Singleton

Two goals from Arthur BERNHARDT propelled Boston United Reserves to a 3-1 Avon Insurance League Division One East victory over Scarborough on Wednesday. BERNHARDT, one of five trialists utilised in the fixture, popped up twice to net as he sought to impress Pilgrims' assistant manager Neil Redfearn, who was in charge for the afternoon. Stuart DOUGLAS also netted for the Pilgrims as they left the McCain Stadium with three points and in the process, completed the double over the Seadogs' reserves. German striker Sinisa SAVIC responded for Scarborough while he also had an effort cleared off the line.

On-loan Leicester goalkeeper Michael Price made his first competitive appearance for the Pilgrims while there were also run-outs for five trialists - Ryan Clarke (Notts County), Steven Ferguson (Leeds United), Middlesbrough duo Bernhardt and Keith Gilroy plus Australian left-back Emmanuel Muscat. Mark Greaves was also involved after a two-game suspension while the likes of David Town, Stuart Douglas, Liam George, Peter Costello, Jamie Cook and Ross Weatherstone all featured after a shortage of recent match action. There was also a notable run-out for goalkeeper Nick Conroy who made a substitute appearance from the subs' bench, replacing Douglas up front!
