Skegness Town 1-6 Reserves

Lincolnshire League

Report by Colin Woodcock

In mid-week, manager John Luffman was able to field a strong side featuring Andy Kiwomya, Gary Childs, Steve Appleby and Mark Melson against Skegness at Burgh Road, so the likely outcome was always predictable. Played in torrential rain with puddles forming on the pitch during the game, United were dominant without really turning their superiority into goals. Andy KIWOMYA eventually gave United the half-time lead with a superb twenty five yard effort which flew into the top corner.

After the break, United finally ended the game as a contest with four goals inside a quarter of an hour. Mark MELSON weighed in with a spectacular hat-trick, the first a header, the second a searing volley from a Leigh Taylor knock-down, finishing with a one on one past the advancing keeper. Gary WALTERS capped a good performance with a brace of goals to complete the scoring.
